September 2 2010 "Ride With the
40" is scheduled to
conclude the second day of the 10-day trip at the
Holiday Inn Express in Three Rivers, after a two-hour
stop for dinner in Sturgis. Stuart Shapiro, who has
helped organize the event and is aiding in recording
footage for an upcoming feature documentary, said the
trip will begin in Newark, N.J., and end in San
Francisco —mirroring the departure point and
destination for Flight 93. The aircraft was overtaken
by four hijackers and crashed in a field near
Shanksville, Pa. Shapiro, a New York City-based ad
producer, said motorcyclists are welcome to join the
group at any point for any distance. The event is a
fundraiser, with all proceeds going toward the Flight
93 Memorial site that is due to open a year from now.
"There is only one person I know of who is doing
the trip from start to end," Shapiro said, adding
that a four-vehicle crew will be accompany riders.
"I've been asked how many motorcyclists will be
showing up at various stops and I really can't give an
answer; it's how ever many want to join us anywhere
along the way."READ

MEXIFORNIA California lawmakers want to
put a plug in the earsplitting roar from modified
motorcycles. The state Senate on Monday voted 21-16 to
pass SB435. The bill makes it a crime to operate a
motorcycle manufactured after Jan. 1, 2013, that fails
to meet federal noise-emission control standards.
Motorcyclists whose vehicles lack the proper U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency label would be subject
to a fine.Supporters say many motorcycle owners modify
their bikes to make them much louder, which in turn
creates a public nuisance. Those modifications also
allow the motorcycle to produce more harmful
emissions. Opponents of the bill say many aftermarket
exhaust systems meet emission standards but aren't
labeled, meaning law-abiding riders could be unfairly
ticketed.

2010 Family of motorcyclist killed by a
drunk Cop makes pleas to city, state officials
for justice: Indianapolis - The family of a man killed
in a motorcycle crash has sent letters to city and
state officials about his death.Eric Wells was
killed and two others were critically injured in the
August 6th crash. Officer
David Bisard faces felony charges including
reckless homicide in connection with the crash. He was
originally charged with drunk driving-related charges
after a blood alcohol content test came back at .19,
but those charges were thrown out on a technicality.
The botched investigation led to an uproar in the
community, and over the weekend, three IMPD officers
were demoted. "We're not trying to badger anybody.
We're really trying to open their eyes," Wells'
brother, Ryan, said by phone from Florida Tuesday.
"They're trying to pass these Mickey Mouse, you
know, demotions off like they're the best thing that
they can do and it's not the best thing that they can
do. "Aaron Wells, father of Eric Wells, makes a
plea to Mayor Greg Ballard, saying, "only you
have the power to ensure justice has a fair
chance."

Not one stinkin'
cager stopped to help AAAAAHHHHH?
WHITBY,
Ont. — A motorcycle passenger who fell off as police
attempted to stop it was run over by one or more
passing vehicles. Neither the motorcycle rider, who
sped off, nor ANY other
vehicles stopped to assist the victim. The disturbing
incident, which occurred Friday night on a busy
stretch of Highway 401 near Whitby, follows another a
week earlier in which a man lay dying on a Calgary
highway ramp as car after car drove past without
stopping. Calgary Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said a
video captured the crash and the lack of help the man
received from other drivers. McIlwraith said the
frequency that police see people choosing not to stop
is frustrating. “The fact is, it’s not just one
case,” he said.“No one’s asking you to get out
and start mouth-to-mouth or CPR, but get help coming
to the scene. It could be the difference between life
and
death.”

28 2010 Bikers are sick of
gettin' screwed in NYC: With just 37,500 registered
motorcycles in a city of 8.4 million people -- roughly
one motorcycle for every 224 residents --
motorcyclists comprise a small minority in New York
City. At the
forefront of this movement is the New York Motorcycle
& Scooter Task Force (NYMSTF), an advocacy group
founded in 2009 by motorcyclist Cheryl Stewart, to
help improve conditions for local riders."We're a
bunch of motorcyclists that have been really, really
anxious for a while about how our rights have been
considerably eroded in New York City," Stewart
explained. "It's been one thing after
another." READ

Could
it be Kansas City here I come for Harley Davidson ???????
According to one of the enchilada's Bob Klein (Company
Spokesman) It just could be. Harley-Davidson has been a
Milwaukee 107 years ago but the company has threatened to
move up to 1,630 jobs -- to another state if local unions
don't knuckle under to company pressure and agree to a
number of cost-saving concessions. And just what cost
cutting deals could that be?
Biker are VERY GOOD for the State of South
Dakota:The South Dakota
Department of Revenue and Regulation says tax revenues from
the 2010 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally increased from last year. Sales
and tourism taxes collected so far from temporary vendors
totaled $989,911 in the northern Black Hills, which includes
Sturgis and communities in Meade and Lawrence counties. The revenue department says the
total is up $127,804 from 2009, and taxes will continue to
be collected for several weeks.The
1,207 vendors at the 2010 rally was up from past years.
Gross vendor sales totaled $13.6 million in the Northern
Hills, $1.7 million more than last year. In the Southern
Hills, which includes Pennington County and Rapid City,
Custer, Hill City and Keystone, sales were $2.8 million, up
from last year’s $2.5 million

MILWAUKEE - Harley Davidson employees
have already taken several cuts to save their jobs. But
now it appears the final straw is being put in the Harley
Milkshake. In a letter distributed to 1800 union
employees the content says one vote will be taken on
September 13th 2010 and that will ultimately decide the
fate of Harley either leaving or staying in Wisconsin.
Once again the company is attempting to force
workers to take cuts while high ranking executives get
huge BONUSES. All the time whining about slow sales. They
must be taking lessons from the US GOVERNMENT.
Some Harley-Davidson dealerships are actually
complaining that motorcycle inventories are too low as the
company has throttled back production to match consumer
demand in a weak economy.
Eric Wells Update
Indianapolis - A motorcycle
ride is being held Wednesday August 25th 2010 to show
support for the family of Eric Wells, a motorcyclist killed
in a crash with a Metro Police officer on August 6th. Kokomo
Harley riders rode into Indianapolis Wednesday morning. They
were headed to the Statehouse. The group says they
"want justice and no special treatment" for Metro
Officer David Bisard. Bisard has been charged with
felony counts of reckless homicide and other charges in
the crash which left Eric Wells dead and Mary Mills and Kurt
Weekly critically injured.
Bisard was originally charged with DUI-related
counts, but those were dropped on a technicality. A blood
draw showed he had a blood alcohol content of .19 on the
morning of the crash, but because the draw was not conducted
by a certified technician, the prosecutor said it wouldn't
stand up in court. Eric Wells' family purchased space on a
billboard along I-465 near the airport. Our partners at The
Indianapolis Star say it will read, "Remember Eric
Wells. Killed by a drunk driver August 6, 2010." On
Tuesday, Wells' family members released
letters they sent to city and state officials to make
the plea that Indiana State Police, not Metro Police, should
conduct the investigation into why procedures were not
followed after Bisard's crash. The FBI is already assisting
on the case.

KilledTAMPA — A
motorcyclist died after he collided with a car about 1 a.m. Sunday
at a Town 'N Country intersection. Keith Ruiz, 25, of Tampa, was
pronounced dead at the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
This is what the patrol says happened:At 1:10 a.m., a Pontiac
driven by Linsey M. Gamso, 23, of Tampa, was stopped on Tampa
Shore Boulevard at Hillsborough Avenue. Meanwhile, two motorcycles
— one driven Ruiz and another by Tampa resident Russell Turner,
27 — were going east on Hillsborough Avenue, approaching the
intersection. READ MORE
